Journeyman Core Lessons in Esoterica

Esoteric Traditions tie in intimately with the supernatural. One area that is given a lot of attention is the area of Demons and Angels. Do some research on each and in separate entries, present what you find in your journal. Think about how different groups view them. Do you think they are real? If so, what are they?

Esoterica also delves into the paranormal, those areas that do not lend themselves to direct scientific study. Research some of the different categories that would be addressed by the Paranormal. What does it cover? Is there any evidence to suggest that it’s real? What do you think about it? Share your thoughts in your journal.

Research the ritualistic nature of Esoteric studies. What are some common tools? What are some common ritualistic expressions? How do they tie into ideas about faith, myth, or the nature of reality? Share what you discover in your journal.

Do some research on grimoires. What are they, and how are they used? Do you own anything that resembles a grimoire? What are some famous examples? Share what you discover in your journal.

The bulk of the journeyman work is in conducting research into a particular area of Esoterica. Choose one of the areas addressed in the Apprentice Lessons and begin researching it for a period of 6 months. The research will culminate with a research project at the Master Level. Explore the history, rituals, symbolism, texts, and/or practices and begin to formulate a topic for research. As stated in the introduction to the Guild, engaging in esoteric practices can be dangerous. Do so only at your own risk. Once you come up with topic, get it cleared with your mentor. If you have any questions, touch base with them for further guidance.

Congratulations! You have come to the end of your Journeyman Lessons. Touch base with your mentor and present what you have researched and what you plan to do at the Master Level. Moving on is at the discretion of your mentor and they may require more research on your area. When you are given the go ahead, you will be awarded the journeyman designation and you may move on. Congratulations on completing the Journeyman Lessons, and good luck at the Master Level.
