So I saw Nakis' Avatar and got to thinking, would it be overkill to have a personal coat of arms? It is a rather Knightly thing to have. I wasn't sure what you all thought about it, though. What's your input? :)

My family coat of arms comes from pirates, much Irish family pride but not sure it stands for what we're going for here......

Never forget that wars have three parties, never ignore the party not involved in the battle itself for they often suffer worst.

You can still register new personal heraldry. Like, legally and stuff. (Not technically a coat of arms until you're a Knight, in the "real world" heraldic world)

I'll have to check it out, do you know a site that does it?

I'd check through your government. Up here in the icy north its still done through the government and is officially your crest when done. It can take... a long while before being done, but its possible.

So yeah, government would be a good place to look.

I just did mine through the SCA who validated that what I produced was a valid and historically acceptable heraldry. My family's historical one is apparently a magpie on a tree stump with a red background.

I've always wanted to create one for my future generations since my family doesn't have one....

Maybe I should look into it as well!

I believe I am technically allowed to wear some tartan or another, but I see little great need to embrace an ancestral family...thing when the reason I am Australian is because my grandparents bought the first boat ticket they could afford away from the place and never looked back
